?? The Upcoming Changes in the Immigration Law

On 01.03.2024, we will receive another batch of changes in the German immigration law, which are designed to make Germany more attractive for work immigrants as a means of dealing with the labor shortage.

Here is a summary of the main changes for employees in tech and international companies:

????? Family reunification for parents and parents-in-law will become possible for folks who got their visas after 01.03.2024. This is the first time such an opportunity is presented in the German immigration law.

? Faster route to PR:
Folks with a skilled workers visa can apply for a PR after 3 years of working (compared to 4 years nowadays).
Blue Card holders: after 27 months of working (compared to 33 months nowadays), or after 21 months of working if they speak German in a B1 level (no change in regulations)

??? Working students will be allowed to work for 280 half days or 140 full days (compared to 240 half days or 120 full days nowadays)

??? More visa options for IT Professionals: folks with 2 years of experience and a salary > 41.041,80 EUR p.a. can receive a skilled worker visa

???? Easier access to the labour market while working on education recognition: This regulation change is designed for regulated industries and companies with collective bargaining agreements, and is, therefore, less relevant for the tech sector
